On the 4th and 5th of October took place the kick-off meeting of AI-PRISM, a European Union-funded project under the Horizon EU programme. This first event was held at the Polythenical University of Valencia (UPV) premises in Spain. The aim was to get to know the consortium partners and establish a plan to start working and collaborating on the most imminent tasks.
AI-PRISM is a three-year project that will improve manufacturing processes by introducing human-centred AI-based solutions to increase customer satisfaction and the manufacturer’s productivity at all stages. In this first meeting with all actors involved, the project was showcased and presented by its leader and coordinator, NTTD from Spain, giving the general management aspects and an overview of the Work Packages (WP).
This two-day meeting was an excellent opportunity to discuss roles and contributions and clarify all the initiatives that will make the project achieve its objectives. From educational institutions to research and technology organizations, robot manufacturers, industries and use case providers, all consortium members represent the human-robot collaboration value chain.
Over the following three years, this partnership will provide an ecosystem of collaboration and cooperation between humans and robots in manufacturing work environments where tasks are challenging to automate, and speed and versatility are essential. To demonstrate their solutions’ performance, transferability, scalability, and large-scale deployment, the AI-PRISM team will conduct 4+5 pilot projects in manufacturing sectors such as furniture, food/beverage, built-in appliances, and electronics.
This meeting was necessary to put in common that the project seeks quantitative improvements in the manufacturing sector as the backbone of our economy, but more importantly, a paradigm shift in which AI, robotics, Social Sciences and Humanities are integrated to improve its workers’ lives.
