The AI-PRISM consortium holds the necessary expertise to strategically improve the EU Smart manufacturing value chain in four domains: collaborative environment, robot perception and recognition, robot programming and human factors. We are working to achieve a suitable trade-off between complementary and overlapping among the industrial partners.
Our innovations will be tested in five use cases of the manufacturing industry, including furniture, electronics, home appliances, foods and beverages, and discrete manufacturing. To demonstrate and validate our system, we count on our Italian manufacturer integrator partner COMAU, one of the primary industrial robotics market manufacturers. They will integrate and deploy our solutions into these real industrial environments.
COMAU are a world leader in industrial automation, ready to accept and face any challenge. Their 50 years of experience as a leading company in the industrial automation field at a global level combines innovative engineering solutions with easy-to-use, open automation and enabling technologies. They have supported companies of all sizes – and across a wide range of industrial segments – to leverage the full potential of digital manufacturing. Therefore, at AI-PRISM, they will work with use case partners perfectly matching the needs of the workers and the characteristics of the tasks to be automated.
Today, the COMAU team shares a video about their novel manufacturing vision, extending to spearheading a new era of automation that is open, connected, and easy to understand and use. Comau innovation is driving the development of new products, cutting-edge technologies and a powerful factory concept that optimises human and machine-driven automation in over 13 countries across the globe. Therefore, they have contributed to the Benchmarking of the technology landscape, comparing new developments to the current state-of-the-art.
Thanks to COMAU, the result of the design phase proposed will be the complete layout for each demonstrator, comprehensive of system mechanics, electrics, electronics, infrastructure and ancillary services. This phase will be followed by the actual implementation at the use-case owner premises, where set-up tests will be performed to ensure that the system is working correctly and conclude as early as possible ramp-up phase.
Furthermore, dedicated training sessions with the end users’ operators will be undertaken after the AI-PRISM system has been successfully integrated, tested, and fine-tuned for each specific use case. These training sessions conducted by COMAU aim to teach a wider number of operators to demonstrate the system performances under real working conditions and address non-technical performance metrics such as its simplicity of usage, the operators’ response and acceptance of the robot and their satisfaction, etc. The operators’ feedback will be collected and analysed to identify and address possible barriers. The feedback will also be used to enhance the system specifications. Moreover, the operators’ feedback will provide valuable information about shortcomings and advantages to be highlighted in the dissemination/commercialisation phase.
