AI-PRISM

AI-PRISM at AI Expo Korea 2025

At this year’s AI Expo Korea, the Electronics and Telecommunications Research Institute (ETRI) presented developments from the AI-PRISM project. Co-exhibiting with leading technology providers AMD, AAEON, Renesas, and NXP at the Avnet booth, ETRI demonstrated how AI-powered systems can elevate efficiency, safety, and adaptability in small-scale and manual industrial settings. AI EXPO Korea featured 544 exhibition booths and 322 companies from 18 countries. More than 43,000 people attended the event.

The AI-PRISM project targets the growing need for collaborative and intelligent automation tools in Industry 5.0 environments. ETRI’s showcase placed particular emphasis on improving human-robot interaction (HRI) by integrating behavioural analytics, real-time ergonomics, and adaptive robotics into existing production workflows.

Highlights from ETRI’s Presentation:

>Key enabling technologies driving Industry 5.0, including AI-enhanced robotics and edge computing.

>A working testbed and prototype system demonstrating AI-PRISM’s application in real-world conditions.

>The Human Monitoring System (HMS)—a central tool for observing and analysing operator behaviour and physiological signals.

>Case studies on interaction design and collaboration scenarios between human operators and robotic systems.

>Use of exoskeletons to support ergonomic working conditions and reduce operator fatigue.

>Deployment of ergonomic assessment tools, including front and rear cameras for posture analysis.

>Advanced 3D pose estimation using multi-camera setups to improve motion capture accuracy.

>Implementation of task segmentation techniques using video trimming to better understand workflow patterns.

>Real-time collaborative robot programming, allowing systems to adjust to human inputs dynamically.

These solutions are designed with a clear goal in mind: to ensure that automation in manufacturing supports—not replaces—human workers. The approach aims to increase productivity without compromising on safety or wellbeing, particularly in sectors where manual precision and adaptability remain essential.

AI-PRISM in the Broader AI Ecosystem

AI Expo Korea 2025 brings together top innovators in AI infrastructure, edge computing, data services, and cloud platforms. AI-PRISM stood out for its practical integration of AI into physical, human-driven tasks. The project complements the broader industry trend of moving intelligence to the edge, enabling faster decision-making and real-time adaptation in complex environments.

As part of the exhibition, attendees had the opportunity to engage with ETRI’s team, gain knowledge on AI-PRISM technologies, and discuss the developments of intelligent, human-centred manufacturing. With ongoing collaboration across 12 countries and 25 organisations, AI-PRISM continues to contribute to a future where AI enhances—not replaces—human capabilities on the factory floor.
