AI-PRISM Starts 2025 with a Publication on AI-Based Positioning on a Micro Scale

The AI-PRISM project starts off the year 2025 with a publication within the area of artificial intelligence and robotics. The now-published paper “AI-Based Positioning on a Micro Scale”* by Tomasz Kołcon, Iveta Eimontaite, Piotr Gemza, Krystian Goławski, Miron Kołodziejczyk, and Adam Wołoszczuk investigates the use of AI technologies to achieve micrometer-level positioning on semiconductor elements.

This paper was published on 1st January 2025 and is part of the European Robotics Forum (ERF) 2024, Volume 2, which puts together the main scientific achievements that were presented during this flagship event.

This research relates to the application of artificial intelligence in enhancing precision and efficiency in processes related to infrared detector manufacturing, which is traditionally a field based on manual operations. The proposed system positions autonomously with high accuracy using AI, reducing the chances of errors significantly. This will not only optimize production processes but also lighten the physical and psychological burden on workers, presenting a model for safer, more sustainable manufacturing environments.

Inclusion into ERF 2024 underlines the relevance of the publication to industry-driven priorities. EuRobotics-organized forums are an important bridge between research objectives and the practical needs of industrial stakeholders. By addressing critical challenges like micrometer-level accuracy and automation, this research underlines the potential of AI for transforming complicated production systems to meet industry roadmaps and research benchmarks.

This milestone further solidifies AI-PRISM’s position in the drive to push beyond the frontiers of AI applications into manufacturing, robotics, and beyond. Throughout its development, the project will further seek alignment of its innovations with changing industrial and scientific demands toward a more resource-efficient and sustainable technological landscape.
