On April 26, 2024, the BRIAS Forum on Human-Robot Collaboration hosted an invited talk by Sharath Chandra Akkaladevi, titled “Sustainable Robotics in Production Environments: Navigating Challenges and Achieving Innovations.” This event took place in Brussels and saw a remarkable turnout with about 50 registrations, drawing participants from industry, academia, and research communities.
Sharath Chandra Akkaladevi delved into the critical topic of sustainable robotics, exploring the various challenges faced in production environments and the innovative solutions being developed to address these issues. The presentation focused on integrating sustainability into robotics, exploring practical applications like battery remanufacturing, and addressing the challenges in automating complex processes. Highlighting the necessity of human-centered semi-automation, the discussion emphasized the importance of developing intuitive interfaces and advanced assistance systems for effective human-robot collaboration in sustainable production environments.
This approach aligns with AI-PRISM’s vision of creating intelligent systems that interact seamlessly with their environment, enhancing perception, reasoning, and control capabilities in cobots to reduce operation time, minimize waste, and ensure human safety.
